“War! War never changes. The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower. But war never changes.”

In the late 20th century, humankind, blinded by its self-proclaimed invulnerability, started stripping apart the Earth for resources, never once thinking what its repercussions would be. In time scientists and researchers soon calculated that man would soon be involved in another war against extinction.

The fragile ecosystem and the natural working of the planet kept up with man’s folly until it did not. Dust storms, forest fires, mass extinctions due to habitat loss, floods all lead to one thing humankind is losing. In times of war you need allies, you need help, and an essential thing that is needed is each other. Indeed, if you look at the “team trees” initiative taken by YouTubers in late 2019, millions of people from all around the world got together for one goal to make sure we gave back to the planet we take from. The silver lining of this is that you might think that it has been a while people have forgotten about it, but they have not looked at their website https://teamtrees.org/ you will find the people are still donating because they care.

Even this campaign of ours by the name of Eco Dost was started to make peace and extend friendship with the environment. Eco-dost is made up of from a variety of people from all over Pakistan from different backgrounds with one goal to convince the government and corporations of Pakistan into adopting green policies and practices and to inform the general populace of the dangers of climate change.

Our objective is to revert planet Earth to at least in the same condition we got it, combating the threats that may arise from excessive burning of crop waste to providing alternatives to fossil fuels. Now it could be argued why do we need initiatives like Eco Dost well, [2] climate change will transform the entire planet and primarily affect the 2.6 billion economically handicapped people of the world. It will also eradicate other living organisms.

During the last 40 years, both flora and fauna have dropped to 50%. According to the ICUCN report, 20-30 percent of plants and animals are under threat and are expected to be extinct soon due to climate change. Oceans are the best source of heat absorption; they have also become a victim of climate change.

Since 1969, oceans have been getting hotter with an approximate temperature of 0.4 degrees. NASA statistics show that from 1993 to 2016, the average melting rate of ice has been recorded 280 billion tons. [2] Therefore, steps must be taken to prevent further damage, and initiatives like Eco Dost can do that.
